On March 31, 2009, the ecoAUTO Rebate Program concluded its two-year mandate to encourage Canadians to buy new fuel-efficient vehicles as part of the Government of Canada's plan to protect the environment.

Between March 20, 2007, and December 31, 2008, applicants who purchased or leased (12 months or more) eligible 2006, 2007 and 2008 model-year, fuel-efficient vehicles were eligible to receive rebates ranging from $1000 to $2000.

Note: All applications must have been received by March 31, 2009. Applications received after this date will be returned to sender and will not be considered.

The ecoAUTO Rebate Program received over 182,300 applications and issued over 169,800 rebates totaling $191.2 million.
In addition, the toll-free number received over 113,500 inquiries and our website recorded 870,000 visits.
